C-IAYT, RYT 500, MA Spiritual Psychology
Elyse integrates breath work, structural integrity, mindfulness in movement & yoga philosophy into her classes. She enjoys being of service helping her students and clients build greater awareness in their mind-body consciousness. First introduced to yoga as a teenager, Elyse embraced the mindful side of asana as a moving meditation. She rediscovered her yoga practice as an adult after sustaining injury from an auto accident. Her practice of yoga became a way of life as an alternative to surgery and in order to heal.
The success experienced with her yoga practice served to deepen in awareness of the relationship between the body, the mind and the soul’s health and wellbeing. As an educator and counselor, she is an advocate of an integrated approach to health and well being believing in the strong connection between the physical body’s health and our emotional, mental and spiritual states of being. She believes that we, as human beings, experience optimal health when these different parts of ourselves are in resonance with each other.
Elyse is a graduate of the Yoga Therapy Rx program at Loyola Marymount University (LMU), with continued training under the direction of Dr. Amy Wheeler in the lineage of T. Krishnamacharya, and interned at Tensegrity Yoga Therapy under the tutelage of Sherry Brourman and Leslie Kazadi.
In addition to her Yoga Therapy Training and Yoga Certifications, Elyse holds a Bachelor’s degree in Genetics from the University of Californian at Berkeley, a Master’s degree from the University of California at Los Angeles and a Master’s degree from the University of Santa Monica in Psychology with emphasis in Consciousness, Health and Healing.
