DONNA CAMPIONE
LYW: What initially brought you to a yoga practice? How long have you been practicing?
I have tried yoga over the years but it never really resinated with me. The positions were too hard or complicated for a person with my arthritis issues etc. The teachers were not exactly accommodating either. I always wanted to try again but never found the right class or teacher to guide me. I now practice weekly at LYW as I have found the right teacher and class for my needs.
LYW: What brought you to LYW? And what keeps you here? How often do you practice?
A dear friend of mine mentioned to me that a mutual colleague opened a yoga studio in my neighborhood. She was attending the open house and suggested I join her. It happens that Teri Roseman was a rep at the same company I did business with, and had met her casually throughout the years during her corporate career. Teri invited me to try her classes and revisit the idea of doing yoga again. She placed me in the appropriate class for my ability and the rest is history. I have been coming since they opened the doors (in 2010). Now, I can say, I love yoga and this community it nurtures. I try to practice at least once a week or more when the time allows. I am hooked for life!
LYW: Are there any observations/comments/antidote’s from a class or workshop you attended you care to share?
The Wednesday night Therapeutic class is the bomb. Teri takes much care in accommodating everyone in the room and is careful to make sure we are all not doing anything that can hurt us in anyway. We together have become a tight knit group and all love to be there each week. Like I said, it’s not just a class anymore, it’s a community of caring friends.
LYW: Please share with us the benefits you receive from your yoga practice.
Mentally yoga brings me peace and joy and much needed relaxation after a long hard day at the office. Without it I would be a lot less flexible physically and definitely more stressed. It has given me a better sense of my own movements and what is possible with gentle and consistent movement. I work in a very stressful environment and I feel without this practice I would not be as balanced as I am now.
LYW: Anything else you’d like to share.
I am grateful this came into my life and I believe it has made me a better person both mentally, physically and spiritually. Thanks Teri and LYW!
