September 2017
We are delighted to bring you “SPOTLIGHT” where we introduce you to the students and teachers who make up the LiveYoga Wellness community.
Today, we present Tracy and Milton Boden. They have lived in the South Bay area for over 26 years, and have been practicing at LiveYoga Wellness since March 2012.
LYW: What initially brought you to a yoga practice? How long have you been practicing?
Tracy: Milt was after me for a number of years to start yoga. I finally gave in one day and have been doing yoga for about 12 years now.
Milton: I was introduced to yoga in high school when a professional circus acrobat (circus acrobat. wow!) visited who used yoga to stay in shape when he was not performing. Then I looked for more information on yoga, particularly from books, since there weren’t many yoga instructors in rural Pennsylvania at the time. And that was quite a few years ago. (yoga helps keep you young!)
LYW: You’ve been a part of the LiveYoga Wellness community since March 2012, and your children joined us about a year later. What brought you to LYW? And what keeps you here? How often do you practice?
Tracy: After we moved to Westchester, we were having trouble making it to yoga because of traffic and time. We came across a flyer for LYW and realized it was close to our home. We figured it was worth trying. After our first class, we just kept coming. LYW is a comfortable place to practice and the instructors have been excellent. We’ve been amazed at times how adaptable the teachers have been with the students that have different issues, like injuries, that need to be accommodated. We generally are able to practice twice a week.
Milton: I like that it’s a relaxed atmosphere. Nobody’s competing, just trying to get the benefits of practice.
LYW: Are there any observations/comments/anecdote’s from a class or workshop you attended you care to share?
Tracy: Hard to say, but the (Ayurveda) cooking class (with Jeff Perlman) was awesome! Milt’s the cook, but we both had a lot of fun and picked up some good techniques and recipes.
LYW: Please share with us the benefits you receive from your yoga practice.
Tracy: I think we both like the flexibility and strength benefits of yoga, but what really keeps us coming back is the calming effect yoga has on the mind and body. Calm is a hard thing to come by sometimes, but a lot easier with yoga.
Thank you Tracy and Milton, for sharing your yoga story.
Namaste,
Teri
